Member firms of Global Insurance Law Connect have a dedicated policy development function which identifies issues of concern, areas for reform and opportunities to engage with policymakers and regulators around the world.
We look to understand our clients’ views as well as bringing our own insight, analysis and practical focus to bear on proposals for change. We discuss proposed changes with clients and advise on strategies to be implemented in response.
The organisation, in pursuing a multi-jurisdictional approach to critical issues of relevant markets, is always available to use members’ relationships with senior government officials and policy makers in order to reach solutions for the industry. We provide early briefings on government thinking, proposals for draft legislation and conveying views back to decision-makers. We also address concerns with pending legislation and work with legislators, industry groups, and lobbyists to protect and advance our clients’ interests.
We have specialists with over 15 years’ experience in policy formulation working directly with government officials and are well versed to provide clients with a competitive advantage and head start. We play an active role, gathering and sharing intelligence with clients and colleagues to develop policy and the law.
Member firms of Global Insurance Law Connect have relationships with, and actively support, organisations such as Italian Ania i.e. the association of Italian insurers, as well as the Forum of Insurance Lawyers in the UK, also taking part in a variety of initiatives with UK-based Association of British Insurers. In the U.S. we participate in the Defense Research Institute, numerous state and local defense organisations, claims and litigation management, and the Property & Liability Resource Bureau, to advance and support the objective of ensuring a policy and regulatory landscape that is fair, efficient, and sensible.
