Cyber/TMT

In today’s technological and global world, corporate clients are constantly faced with a barrage of cyber and computer-related issues.

These issues include, among others, the procurement of adequate insurance for cyber security risks, the creation of suitable in-house cyber oversight, the understanding of the cyber security vulnerabilities that are constantly evolving, ageing infrastructures with insufficient computer updates and patches and the implementation of policies and procedures to minimize damage once a loss has occurred. Our member firms are equipped to address these issues as well as those associated with publishing, hosting, sharing, storing and transferring information. We also advise clients in the private and the public sector how to best deal with large amounts of sensitive information.

New technologies and innovations bring new risks. Complex IT systems can be vulnerable to breakdown, human error or attack. Brands and reputations are under constant threat from uncontrolled content across social media and internet platforms. We advise clients on all of these issues. From giving advice on slander and libel, reputation management, media enquiries and investigation, malicious falsehood, privacy, breach of confidence, to copyright and IP issues, trademarks, data protection and freedom of information.

When advising on cyber insurance products, we can deal with any issue that arises in relation to a cyber claim; typically a hacking incident or the loss of data through human error, including business interruption caused by denial of service attacks. We provide an end-to-end cyber incident management service, which we have strengthened considerably by establishing connections with other specialists, such as IT, to deal with the practical issues of a breach, public relations experts for key communications and credit monitoring specialists.

We support clients such as insurers on policy wordings, claims handling and advice on emerging trends and threats. We also advise on risk management issues for insureds such as local authorities, police forces, hospitals, trusts, schools and publishers and broadcasters.
